Welcome!

Come in, dust yourself off, get your shoulders down from around your ears and find a comfy couch, that one over there is good. Here's some pillows. Yup, we're burning clandles and incence all the time, even when it's sunny out, like right now. Here's an ottoman for your feet. How about a nice single malt? We've got The Balvenie. Or an orange soda with vanilla ice? Here, taste these cucumber sandwiches. Don't they look yummy?Absolutely delicious. I told you so. Later there'll be some people from upstairs, you know, from the practice room. We'll make Misu play the cello. In the meantime, what will it be: Ahead of All Parting by Rilke is a recommendation, or some Yeats for a pleasant afternoon? There you go, enjoy. No, no, that's quite alright. Just kick back and relax. We love having you here.

Yard Sale, Bumbershoot & Zero 7, and a lazy Monday

Sat around in the cooling shade of trees, drank Cadillac Mountain, haggled with customers and let the heat fill up my bones all of blue-hot Saturday. Sold two van loads of material burdens, called too much stuff I like and don't need, made a mint and financed Sunday aaaall day Bumbershoot. Amazing bazaars -bought a white cotton shirt from India and a basket made by a widowed women cooperative in Ghana. The crowning glory of the day: Zero 7. Brilliantly creative, perfect blend of old and new (i.e. acoustic and electronic) moving vocals, excellent song structure. An exciting band that mixes serious music with hilarious/kooky on-stage behavior. It says everything about a band when you'd rather hear their new material, than your favorite songs from the previous record. Sunday, lazed in bed, snuggling till 11:30. Just one meeting with accountants in an, otherwise, uninterrupted day of lazing. And it's not over yet.

The Hoops that Hop out from their Hiding Places

Project one: So close. Almost had the DOCs, but then one more hoop. The 24monthscancelledrentchecks hoop. On to another mortgage lender. The seller is in town, arrived this morning for the closing. Fingers and toes are crossed that the new loan goes through before he leaves in 10 days. It's doable. But will it be done? Oh, the excitement of house buying.

Project two: Architect sketch. It's great. A sweet little house will turn into a fabulous living space for the modern family. Picture: Enter through the two-story foyer. Large rectangular living space with gas fire place, windows along south and west walls. Fir floors. Super long planks. To the right a formal dining room. Exit in the middle of the rear wall onto double wide stairs. To the left, the study, french doors to patio. To right, hallway leads past powder room and utility room to kitchen/entertainment room the length of house. Large center island, stainless steel appliances, burl wood cabinets. Kitchen opens toward left into large room with the latest in entertainment gadgets. Access to patio through triple sliders that can be opened all the way for those parties on gorgeous summer nights. Upstairs 2 bedrooms, sharing bath, additionally one master suit with master bath opens onto balcony through french doors. Stand on the private balkony with your spouse, look at 9 majestic old growth firs, to the right, a gigantic garden with a sweet plum tree.

Too bad I'm only building it. I'll never live there. The drawings aren't yet dried and my heart is already broken.
